Use explosion-proof and electrically grounded equipment such as mixers, pumps, motors,
and lights in the paint shop, spray room, or on the job.
Use pails of sand (never sawdust) near dispensing pumps and spigots to absorb any
spillage or overflow.
Keep fire extinguishers nearby during painting operations. Select extinguishers based on
the proper type indicated in Table 1-2.
Check ventilation and temperature regularly when working in confined areas.
Consult with electricians before painting in areas where high-voltage lines and equipment
are located.
Keep all work areas clear of obstructions.
Clean up before, during, and after painting operations. Dispose of sweepings and waste
daily.
