All reportable data observed should be recorded at once on prepared DA Forms and, if necessary,
accompanying sketch maps or overlays. The form used for recording engineer reconnaissance data other than route
classification is DA Form 1711-R, Engineer Reconnaissance Report.
Reportable engineer information is shown on a sketch or overlay, and recorded on DA Form

FRAME 2-91. INFORMATION FRAME.
One of the most important resources sought by an engineer party is a water point. Notice that there are two
symbols for indicating existing water supplies, one for civilian facilities, the other for military. These would have a
good water source, purification equipment, and good access routes. If there are no existing facilities, then a
potential supply must be located. Estimates must be computed of the time, labor, and material necessary to improve
the site.
