3-7. Laying Cross Joints. Cross joints are the joints formed by the long face of the brick when laying
header courses. They are laid in the same way you lay the header joints. Spread the mortar for the bed
joints several bricks in advance, butter the face of the brick, and push it into position (Figure 3-8). Cross
joint must be completely filled with mortar.
