i. Vacuum cleaners. Before applying protective coatings, use industrial or domestic vacuum
cleaning equipment to remove items such as dirt; dust; small, loose objects; and paper from surfaces and
areas. To loosen the soil caked on the vacuum cleaner's inlet, use a soft-bristled brush.
Always remember to check the applicable TO or operator's manual when you are using any of the
equipment or items discussed above or when performing maintenance.
PART B: APPLICATION EQUIPMENT
Your job is to apply protective coatings to buildings and other structures. It is necessary that you know
how to select the best methods and equipment to do a satisfactory job faster, safer, and the most
economical for the military. To avoid duplication, equipment that is used for surface preparation and
application is covered in only one of the categories.
