Critical Tasks: 01-1990-20-1002
OVERVIEW
LESSON DESCRIPTION:
This lesson describes the proper procedures used in designing open channels for use in the TO.
TERMINAL LEARNING OBJECTIVE:
ACTION:
Identify characteristics of runoff and design open channels to provide for the runoff.
CONDITION:
Given this subcourse, a No 2 pencil, paper, and an ACCP examination response sheet.
STANDARD:
Demonstrate competency of the task skills and knowledge by responding correctly to 70
percent of the examination questions.

INTRODUCTION
In the TO, you, the engineer, will be required to support maneuver elements by providing both access and
sustaining movement along military supply routes and combat trails.
These roads, when built, usually interfere with the natural drainage patterns, and as such, can cause many
problems that can be detrimental to mission accomplishment. Consequently, you can reduce the damage to roads
and airfields by designing sound drainage structures.
This course describes the proper method used for designing drainage structures for use in the TO.
