The use of CBR in designing a flexible pavement is illustrated in Figure 34. As an example, the
compacted subgrade in Figure 33 has a CBR value of 10. To find the value for Type D Traffic area,
read down from 10 and across to determine that 22 inches of pavement is required above the compacted
subgrade (this is for twin assembly, bicycle gear, heavy load pavement).
