DIVIDERS
Dividers are used for measuring distances between two points, for
transferring or comparing measurements directly from a rule, or for scribing
an arc, radius, or circle. Two types of dividers are spring and wing and
are described below.
Spring
A spring divider, Figure 23, consists of two sharp points at the end of two
straight legs, held apart by a spring and adjusted using a screw and nut.
The spring divider is available in lengths from 3 to 10 inches.
