Regardless of the scope and orientation of intelligence operations, they follow a four-step procedure known as
the intelligence cycle. The four steps are:
a. Planning the collection effort and preparing orders.
b. Collecting the information.
c. Processing the collected information.
d. Disseminating and using the resulting intelligence.
The intelligence cycle is continuous. New information is constantly fed into the system as other information is
being processed and used.
