INTRODUCTION
In many areas where flexible pavements are placed, the effects of frost must be considered in the design.
As an engineer officer you will have to determine what conditions require frost protection, choose the
design method for dealing with frost, check construction for frost protection and generally compensate
for the effects of frost. Frost affects most of the elements you have learned to deal with in previous
lessons on flexible pavement.
